It's no secret that I like Seventh Generation products. I've tried their dish detergent, toilet bowl cleaners, bathroom and multi surface cleaners, baby wipes and diapers, and even their laundry detergent. I like them because they list their ingredients, use less toxic chemicals, and they really work.
So when My Blog Spark asked me to take a look at their laundry detergents, I gladly accepted. They asked me to take a look that their detergent versus my "usual" detergent to show that Seventh Generation does not use optical brighteners in their detergent.
So what's the big deal? I'm not really sure but optical brighteners are just one extra chemical (toxic or not?) that I'd rather not put into my clothing, my body, or our environment.
Take a look at these "black light" results. It's clear that Seventh Generation doesn't use optical brighteners, and as I've said before, they are one of the few companies that actually lists the ingredients in their cleaners.
But of course, the fun doesn't stop there. Seventh Generation and My Blog Spark would like to give you the opportunity to try their "Optical Brightener Discovery Kit" for yourself. You will receive 1 bottle of Seventh Generation detergent, 1 bottle of Seventh Generation liquid fabric softener, 2 organic cotton t-shirts, 1 box of fabric softener sheets, and a black light.

I love green cleaning. I have some 7G products for disinfecting and feel so much better when I use them. I love that I could eat from the counters after knowing it's non-toxic.

OOoohh!!! I would love love to win this!! I try to clean as “green” as possible, cleaning with vinegar and baking soda whenever possible. I use all organic beauty products. Like you, I hate the idea of putting any toxins in my clothes or my body, so winning this would be a real treat! :)

I think that Green cleaning is the only way to go. I live in a town right on Lake Erie and see daily just what hemicals are doing to our ecosystem. In addition to that, I have a toddler who is into everything - he crawls on the floor and constantly has things in his mouth. I don't want the chemical residue to rub off on him, or worse - get inside him! I only use homemade cleaners and natural cleaners in my home.

ReplyDeleteMy opinion? I don't really have one, I guess. People are incredibly paranoid about these things. I just use whatever I have. Usually that qualifies as green, since baking soda and vinegar figure largely in my cleaning supplies.
