First - look at your cleansers. This includes the products you use to wash your counters, your toilets, and your body! I swapped out all of our household cleaners over 9 years ago and it did a wonder for our health. My son - who used to be allergic to everything and lived on asthma medication - slowly lost all his allergies - including his allergy to peanuts!!
I swapped our laundry detergent for the Roby Ball - I wash all of our surfaces (glass, mirrors, windows, countertops, and appliances) with a mix of water, rubbing alcohol and dish soap (1/4 cup rubbing alcohol, 2-3 drops of dish soap, and the rest of the spray bottle filled with water.) And I wash our floors with half/half vinegar/water.
I swapped all of our body soaps to all natural products and got rid of shampoo/conditioner all together!! One of the easiest swaps is for natural soaps. That means soaps without any harsh chemicals. Just oils, lye, and maybe a fragrance or two.
I recently had the opportunity to try out this shea butter soap. It was really nice, and the ingredients were excellent. Natural soaps with soothing ingredients like Shea butter are very healing to your skin - way less drying.
If you like fragrances, then I'd also recommend you take a look at this gorgeous aromatherapy necklace. I am a huge fan of certain essential oils but I don't always like them on my skin. Some of them burn or have to be diluted with oils so they don't last as long as I'd like.
This necklace solves all of those problems. First off, you can swap out the sponge inside and use one color for each essential oil. The scent lasts an extremely long time and the necklace looks great! It's stainless steel so there are no risks of allergies.
I have been wearing mine with a grapefruit essential oil for the past few days. It's divine. The only downside...grapefruit oil takes away your appetite. But damn if it doesn't smell great!!! I swapped to rosemary recently and am happy to eat again, but I miss that grapefruit....
If you happen to be in the market for weight loss, then I'm telling you grapefruit essential oil does suppress appetite. You'll be healthier in the long run if you happen to add some quality exercise.
Don't have the time or space? Hogwash! With a tool like this speed rope - you can get a high quality workout in less than 15 minutes and it is portable and light enough to take with you ANYWHERE.
I have been using this rope to condition my son for his wrestling matches. Just like a boxer. There is a reason boxers are strong and fast. It has a lot to do with conditioning from the jump rope.
If you want to get started - then jump rope as fast as you can for 30 seconds. Then rest for 90 seconds. Do this 8 times. Everybody's starting speed will be different from anybody elses. That's okay. Just start where you are and work to improve.
I started my son on this very protocol then upped his work time to 40 seconds, 50 seconds, 1 minute, 90 seconds and so on until he got to 6 minutes. 6 minutes it the time you have to be all-in during a wrestling match. So we have built his conditioning up. Now we focus on improving the speed and volume during that 6 minutes. He went from a chubby little kid to an athlete in 12 weeks. We still have 20 pounds of weight difference between us but there is no way in hell I will wrestle him anymore. He is a beast!
I mean that in a good way. If you want optimal health, all you need is your own body and the knowledge of what to do. But tools do help - they make it more fun and interesting. A jump rope and a stop watch (or kitchen timer!) are all you need for a great - athletic body.
The routine we used to get him in fighting condition was pretty straightforward and I plan to put it up here soon. Look for it in a few weeks.
Until then - those were 3 easy ways to improve your health today. Not tough, not expensive. Just easy.
