You want to be clean, fed, comfortable, and warm. That means the right jacket, food storage, and a quality tent! It also means a quality sleeping bag!
My number one recommendation to camping outdoors is to bring a yoga mat. Put that under your sleeping bag and you will be so much happier. You will have less aches from sleeping on the hard ground and less heat will be sucked from your body. The Earth is a heat sink!
Then make sure you have a sleeping bag that is comfortable and warm enough for the temperatures you will be experiencing. I recently tried out this comfy double person sleeping bag. Warm and cozy!!
It really was nice. It's great for camping outdoors but also nice for camping inside. Sleepovers, holidays with the family, and even on vacation. I could imagine spreading this out over a hotel bed instead of using the hotel's bedding. Much cleaner!
If you're going to head out camping, let me also recommend you bring enough water not only for drinking but for cleaning up. Nothing ruins a camping trip more than feeling dirty. Dirty equals uncomfortable. Uncomfortable equals grumpiness.
If you head out in the outdoors this fall - enjoy your trip!
