Heading into Fall in Style

Somehow I blew it when it came to fashion this summer. I was just too hot and sweaty to care, I guess! So shorts and a tank top were my main outfit. I wish I would have came across this cute American Flag shirt for the 4th of July!!

But there's also Memorial Day, Veteran's Day, Labor day, Election Day, and the whole Olympics to consider wearing it. I got this shirt about a week ago and it is really cute in person. The size chart is all crazy - but trust it - it's right on.

As it turns warmer, I'm going to wear a white denim jacket over this top to really make it stand out. I may even pair it with these super cute little silver earrings.

These are sterling silver and less than $10 - with FREE Shipping!

They are relatively thin, so I am super careful with them - so they don't bend. Don't sleep in them, obviously! And store them well. I store all my jewelry in the boxes they came in. I just open them up and lay them all in a drawer. Then I use the open boxes to store my earrings and necklaces. It keeps everyone from tangling with each other and it makes it easy to find what I'm looking for.

I could stand to organize this a little better, but you get the gist. And you could make it look so much nicer - plus did I mention this organization method was basically free?

When summer is roaring with heat, it's hard to forget just what is waiting for us over the next few months. According to the Farmer's Almanac, we are going to have one super cold and snowy winter. I'm not sure if I believe the forecast or not. We'll have to wait and see. But one thing I know about our winters - they are cold. Cold or super cold - we still require outdoor gear.

I have a gigantic head, so when I ordered this little wool blend beanie, I was so excited to see "one size fits all." Silly right? They actually had multiple size choices but I went with the One Size because hats almost never fit me. I must be an alien.

Well - the one size fit! Hats are only good if they are warm, they stay on, and you'll wear them! I was worried the wool would be scratchy but since its a blend it wasn't. It also looks super cute and stays down around my ears. With my size head, hats tend to pull up and take themselves off. Do you know what I mean? If you do, then you know what a blessing it is to find one that will stay on. And one that's warm. It feels really warm. It might just be because I'm trying it on at the end of summer, but it does feel like a nice warm hat.

I can't wait to start wearing jeans again - but I've realized that not all my jeans are flattering! It turns out that pocket placement has more to do with the way your butt looks in jeans than I ever expected. You can have a great behind and look like a trucker or an 80 year old woman just based on the jean pockets!

I am going through my closets now and figuring out who is who! I have lots to donate!

When the stores start trying to clear out their extra "back to school" clothing, it's a good time to look for sales on basic layering items. Fall and winter are all about layering. Not only does it look classy - but it's a great way to make sure you are never too hot or too cold. Then you'll be ready to head into fall and winter in style.
