Have a smelly car? Smelly closet? Smelly locker? Instead of reaching for a chemically laden air freshener, why not try a natural solution. We've used cedar, baking soda, and lavender in our closets with great success. Now, we are giving this bamboo charcoal deodorizer a try.
The whole set up is basically a linen bag filled with bamboo charcoal. We all know charcoal is great for absorbing impurities, so it would be a great way to remove odors in your car, closets, even whole rooms.
Bamboo is a quick growing, renewable product so it makes sense to use it over nonrenewable products whenever possible.
The thing I like best about this is that it works - and it works without adding anything toxic into our environment. Better still, it is made from a renewable product and can even live on after the charcoal is no longer absorbing odors.
First of all, you can reactivate the charcoal by letting it sit in the sun for an hour. This dries it out and allows it so suck up more fumes and toxins.
And then finally, when you are all done using the deodorizer, you can add the contents to your garden or potting soil. People all around the world make charcoal for this exact reason. Google terra preta to find out why. But don't go out and burn down forests just to make terra preta! Use bamboo charcoal in items like this first, then add it as a waste product to the garden!
This is a great product for the car, and I am going to buy extras to put into our mitten/hat chest and closets. Then when they are all used up, I will definitely add them to our garden soil.
