Pretty Neat Organizational Book and $200 Gift card Giveaway

Tuesday, March 8, 2011

Does organization stress you out? It causes me a lot of stress. I'm always striving to keep our home looking like a Model. I want the right decorations, no clutter, spic 'n span surfaces, no toys!

For the most part, I can be realistic and not worry about a little mess. But clutter! No way, no how! I keep a collection in my closet of everything I want to give away. I add to it whenever I come across something we no longer use. I'm always going through drawers and closets, pulling out unused items. Adding them to the bags in the closet.

But.....every time I walk by the closet (or God forbid, open it!) I immediately feel stress bubbling up inside my body. Way too much stress. The same stress I feel when I know there's a drawer or closet that has been forgotten for awhile. I just know there's excess or clutter inside. Aaarrggghhh!!!

Goodwill picks up at our house about once a month. I always have plenty of bags and boxes for them. Sometimes, I put out so much stuff it looks like we're moving! This must mean I have a shopping problem, right? Maybe. But it also means we have two kids that grow quickly. It means I get a lot of things for free (from friends, from this blog, from my outside activities).  It means my interests change.

And I can't and won't keep it all. Once Goodwill comes, I feel such a rush of relief. And then I find something that I no longer need/want.....and the cycle of stress returns.

I read the book Pretty Neat in less than a day. It's a quick read. And there are a great many tips and nuggets of wisdom inside. Lucky for you....one Suburban Jungle reader will win a copy of Pretty Neat.

But that's not all: One winner will be selected across all the winners on this blog tour (all the winners from each blog that reviewed Pretty Neat will be automatically entered) to receive a $200 same as cash Gift Card (Visa or AMEX) and $50 worth of Buttoned Up organizational products.

To Enter: Leave a comment sharing your biggest source of organizational stress!

My biggest source of stress is a major lack of closet space in the master bedroom--as in, we have NONE! I share a closet with my 4 month old, and my husband uses our coat closet. Sooo annoying.

My biggest source is stuff (mostly books) that I'm selling on Amazon. I don't want to mix them in with my other books, so they end up in a box in the corner of my office, and occasionally in an overflowing box, and then sometimes in a big pile surrounding an overflowing box...

My spouse is a horder, pack rat and loves clutter I have to sneak and throw stuff out after he leaves for work or he will pull it out of trash, hes so cheap and stingy and after 23 years of marriage and 3+ years of dating I'm ready to move out and be clutter free
I'm almost OCD about clutter, I TRY to keep everything in its place and organized. I have had to hid my stress to keep from pulling my hair out, he has 3 sheds, a screened in back porch, a utility trailer, our utility room and half the bedroom, half of the kitchen and all of his car(no one can ride with him because of all the stuff)he is getting worse the older he gets, he picks up stuff from the roadways, peoples garbage, garbage at work, to make items last for example ketchup he waters it down, he keeps every receipt,
basically the only room I can keep sort of organized is the living room

Thank you so very much for giving me a chance to be a winner
Thank you for all your time, effort and hard work

Org tip - If you borrow things or lend things or return items to the store occasionally (who doesn't?), keep a pretty box near the exit and put those things in there as you think of them. Next errand day, just pick up the box and everything you'll need is right there, ready to go.

My biggest problem is the lack of storage space outside. I have to keep everything inside and I just don't have encough storage for everything.
I have big tools in my kitchen cabinets!!

Use bins for toys and tupperware boxes for storage.

I am always looking for new ways to stay organized! One of my best tips is "homework boxes" for the kids. I have baskets with their names on them to put all that paperwork that comes home. I can get to it when I am able rather than have it all thrust at me as they walk through the door :)

My biggest source of organizational stress would be "space" - sometimes not having enough!
