I may, however, take a look at an organic fundraising program. I am a big proponent of buying local, organically produced products. The Equal Exchange Organic & Fair Trade Fundraiser program is a way for green families to raise money for their schools or organizations while still supporting their values.
Take a look below to read more about the program:

The Equal Exchange Fundraiser allows schools and community groups to make money (40% profit), while benefiting small organic farmers and artisans around the globe. The fundraiser features organic and fairly traded coffees, teas, cocoas, nuts & berries, and handmade gift wrap (tree-free!) from Equal Exchange, and beautiful gifts for the home from Ten Thousand Villages(www.tenthousandvillages.com). The Equal Exchange Fundraiser works both as an event and/or catalog sale and is an easy way to both make money for the school, while reinforcing classroom values of social and environmental responsibility and global citizenship.

The program sounds incredibly worthwhile, and I respect their efforts to reach out to farmer co-ops around the world and to make an effort to bring people of different faiths together for the common good of enhancing sustainability and free trade. Thanks for spreading the word, and for the chance to enter!

This is a worth while program. I love this part of it: The Equal Exchange Fundraising Team also developed a Fair Trade curriculum and pen pal exchange program to help connect US children selling the chocolate with the children of the farmers who grow what they sold.

I definitly support things like this. I will be sending this to my address book! Awesome!
I really like the fact that they are encouraging small farmers to democratically organize cooperatives. We really have to support the small farmers, they need all the help they can get.

This program is so much better than a lot of the programs in schools. I remember selling candy but it was Hersheys, and MUCH better than popcorn and Hillshire farm-type baskets.

Excellent! I'll be suggesting this to our school. Love the idea of teaching/helping our kids and others as well. Same with the organic foods. I'd stop in my tracks to buy some from a fundraiser.
What a fabulous program! Win (fund raising), win (teaching kids about organic and fair trade), win (farmers and earth)!

I think this is a terrific program! It's so important to educate kids on issues like fair trade... especially with the chocolate industry. It's often child slaves who make the wheels go round for big chocolate companies in the US.

I think this is great; I love that they have a curriculum program to go along with the fundraiser; when I was in school there was no educational or cultural development aspect along with the fundraiser, it was just about the $$. This is about social responsibility too - that's wonderful.

I am really interested in the program. I love the idea of fair trade, it is a good idea although I wonder if fair trade certification costs farmers extra and therefore hurts their ability to be profitable.
