Add More ~ing to your life - Review & Giveaway

{ This giveaway has ended. Congrats to Shelley #12 }As a stay-at-home mom, my life can be pretty um...dull. So I had decided a long time ago, that I would need to create my own excitement. And you know, I think that's pretty true for people in all stages of life.

I just finished readingADD MORE ing TO YOUR LIFE: A Hip Guide to Happinessand it had a lot to say on happiness and creating "oomph" in your daily life.

The main thing I learned from this book is the importance of getting MOVing. That's something I wholeheartedly agree with. I have found that I have been the happiest in my life when I am doing the most. Especially physically doing.

Before reading the book, I had never really thought about exercise as meditation. But I've since realized why exercise makes me feel so much better. It's the one time that my life is truly quiet. Externally and Internally. And that's important. Without it, I wouldn't take the time to be quiet and it's something I really crave/need.

The book is set as a how-to and give you steps to follow to achieve a happier life. I'm horrible with following rules, so I haven't done any of them in the right order. Luckily, she shares a lot of real life examples that are easy to apply even if you're not following along precisely. She makes a lot of valid points and offers suggestions to help you break out of whatever cycles may be weighing you down. And her tone is honest and non-judgmental.

She also shares a lot of her personal experiences which are actually nice to read. Especially since all of the pictures inside and outside of the book are so beautiful. My natural female cattiness makes me think she has nothing to be unhappy about. Nice, huh? So it's nice to hear about what she's been through. And honestly, we all have similar stories.

Some of the book may offend people. The tone of the book is a bit spiritual, maybe a little new age. Her writing style is also very much generation X and Y. She writes like my friends and I talk. And for me that was okay because it was a lot like having a conversation with a girlfriend, but understandably it may annoy some of the older generations. Then again, maybe not. If you can look past either of those issues, I bet you'll find a few nuggets of wisdom in this book. Or at least inspiration to get out and make your life better.

And with that, I leave you a burning question from poet Mary Oliver:
"Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?"

Would you like a chance to own this book? Media Muscle would like to offer one Suburban Jungle reader the chance to win a copy of ADD MORE ing TO YOUR LIFE: A Hip Guide to Happiness.
