Make your Own Hot Cocoa

Making your own hot cocoa is surprisingly easy! I stopped using the packets last year. They are inexpensive, but they're also loaded with things I don't want to eat.

Here's a quick and easy way to make your own.

Heat 1 cup of milk (or water if you prefer) until hot. Stir in 2 tsp cocoa, 2 Tbsp sugar, and 1/2 tsp of vanilla. Just as easy as opening a packet. :)

Oh that sounds so yummy and easy! I never liked using packets and this will be a nice recipe to share with my family!

I actually make up my own mix--a large batch at a time that lasts a long time. My husband uses a scoop every morning to jazz up his coffee, and it's helped him to give up mochas at Starbucks so it has saved us a LOT of money, too! Here is the recipe:

I am making a big batch and dividing into smaller jars for gifts for neighbors and teachers. You can also try addding a bit of cinnamon or nutmeg if you'd like.

I used a little less vanilla and added a drop of peppermint extract for that mint chocolate taste. So yummy! Thanks for sharing.

Peppermint and Cinnamon sound great. I bet my kids would love to stir it with a candy cane. :)
