Gathering Flower Seeds

My children have a flower garden that's planted entirely from free seeds we received in the mail. It's a beautiful hodgepodge of random seeds and they are so proud that they planted it themselves. You can see it here and here.

One of the ways my children love to help out is to remove the dead heads from our flowers. When they were cleaning up our marigolds, I realized that seeds fell out of the dead heads. And a new idea was born....

We are going to save as many seeds as we can and plant them next year. Hopefully we can continue the tradition of a totally free children's garden. We'll have to wait and see.

How great. Gardening is such a wonderful hobby, and it is awesome they got all the seeds for free.

They should be really proud of themselves.

Excellent idea. My kids like to collect seeds and replant them. We have had success with everything from flowers and herbs to white pumpkins.

Awesome! I'd love to hear how you collected herb seeds. Have you collected them from basil?
